SPECIMEN (A) description: - Red Hand Leather

Lobophytum is highly toxic (terpenoids) and requires lots of room

Lobophytum can grow to several feet...

In August we moved it to the AEGIS tank under reconstruction... where it will have ample space to grow

SPECIMEN (B) description: - Green Finger Leather

Also looks like a Lobophytum... The first few weeks we noticed what seemed like heavy shedding...

but it turned out to be a very unique feature...

We're all familiar with the STINGERS that hard corals deploy at night mostly.... But this soft coral seems to possess STRINGERS which are probably used as retractable - fishing lines - for feeding... They are a flexible feather-like array and they can be deployed or retracted in a fraction of a second and are barely visible !!

The photographs below clearly show the feather-like appearance.
